Biography

Magnus Colby has to be on most people's list of the most influential people in wrestling in the late 21st and early 22nd centuries. Colby, possessing the wealth of kings, came to pro wrestling and the GWF in 2092, although was working behind the scenes before that. Wrestling had always appealed to his baser instincts and he first managed the Masked Assassins before seizing the reigns of Destruction, Inc., arguably one of the most talented stables of professional wrestlers ever assembled, including Chaos and Thantos on one team! Unfortunately for Colby, his team lost in the Sudden Death wars of 2094-2095, and Colby, disgusted with his inability to win, quit the wrestling game to pursue financial interests. This wasn’t the last the wrestling business had seen of Colby, though. Beginning in 2101, he and the-wife Sonora Pelf brought their Colby-Pelf Corporation (CPC) to the GWF. While remaining a group within the GWF for a few years, by 2105 the couple insisted the CPC was a viable organization on its own and waged all-out war on the stars of the GWF. A bidding war for wrestling stars inevitably started, sending the salaries of wrestlers soaring into the stratosphere, as the two federations, the GWF and CPC, slugged it out to be the king of the wrestling mountain. But the GWF was too embedded in the culture of the galaxy to be effectively destroyed by a rich interloper like Colby. Nevertheless, despite Sonora Pelf’s leaving Colby and remaining in the GWF with Johnny Rocket, the CPC as an organization persevered, splitting off from the GWF officially in 2109 and taking several GWF stars with them (allowing upper-mid-carders like Raven and Jack of Diamonds to eventually shine), while keeping a “Team CPC” within the GWF. Even the wrestling ban of 2110 to 2111 didn’t stop the organization, as they literally continued to operate underground. From the subterranean depths of Planet Colby, CPC wrestlers, including newcomers like the Troubleshooters and O.D., entertained those fans able to keep the illegal activity secret. However, the cost of keeping a secret, illegal wrestling federation operating eventually caught up with Colby. After the wrestling ban was lifted, he found that his substantial wealth was substantially decreased, and CPC Wrestling was in danger of folding. To try to keep the federation solvent, Colby took the drastic step of taking on fellow investors, thus creating the Group of Seven which would run the CPC from October 2113 to December 2117. After regaining control of the CPC, with his Sonora Pelf as a business partner, Colby took a more active role at ringside once again as he and Pelf managed the Penthouse Suite for the next two years Due to the cost-cutting actions taken by both federations, in 2119 the active rosters of the GWF and CPC were almost of equal size for the first time in the history of the two federations. In 2120, with the retirement of several of the Penthouse Suite members, Colby and Pelf stepped away from their managerial duties and back into their duties as top executives. What the future holds for Colby and his “little wrestling federation that could” is anybody’s guess, but you can be sure that it will be interesting, surprising, and unexpected.
