Biography

This enigmatic mercenary was brought to the GWF by Thantos in 2119. Sly Drury is from the Maffei II star system with a reputation as an athletic stuntman. He had been implicated in several scandals involving payments for the injury of various individuals. None of the charges have stuck so far, but this was due in part to his disreputable connections more so than actual innocence. Drury was an impressive sight in his black trench coat and floppy hat. His arrogance knew no bounds as shown with his catch phrase "Bring it on, meat." His first feud saw an uphill confrontation with Switchblade. Drury showed his true colors in 2120 as part of the attack on Thantos. Epoch had made an agreement with Drury to help undermine others as part of the bid for the Villain Team leadership. Sly Drury continued his feud with the FDF in 2120 as part of the Central Command squad. The biggest move in Drury's young career came in 2122 when he formed the unlikely team of outcasts called the Outlaw Nation. In 2123, Sly brought Patch, an old friend, into the Outlaw Nation, prompting Valour to walk out. Most observers felt that the move strengthened the Nation's cohesion. They would need it as they not only had Endgame and the FDF on their tail, they also faced Iron Hand and Martial Law.

Feeling that Massif was losing control of the GWF to the rougher elements among the wrestlers, the Board of Directors took action in 2123 to regain control by firing Massif and bring in a new, tougher commissioner, the mysterious Iron Hand. Obviously given carte blanche to do whatever needed to be done to bring control back, Iron Hand managed to make enemies of almost everyone in the GWF stable. First he recruited Mother Superior and Divided We Fall to join his new Martial Law group, then he pulled the surprise of the century by recruiting Monolith away from the Eugenics Project. Finally, he solidified his stance as the man in charge by awarding the major GWF championship belts to members of Martial Law. Given the job of bringing the GWF under control, Iron Hand may have created more dissension than unity. In 2124 the secret was revealed. Iron hand was really Sly Drury. Somehow Drury had convinced the Board of Directors that he could bring the rowdy elements of the GWF under control. For the times when Drury and Iron Hand had to appear together during 2123 a remote controlled robot Iron Hand had been used. For 2124 Drury added Patch, Retribution and Phantasy to Martial Law and acquired a GWF security force to protect him from irate GWF wrestlers as he continued his campaign of bringing the GWF under control. Fearing that the Aethrans would bring their campaign to dominate the GWF into a feud with Martial Law, Drury struck a deal with the Overmaster in 2125. The Overmaster would become the co-Commissioner in exchange for not sending the Aethrans against Martial Law. Monolith exploded when he heard about the deal, he had been anticipating taking on the Overmaster. In order to keep his truce with the alliance alive, Drury solicited the Overmaster's help in getting Monolith out of the picture. The result was an "accident" which kept Monolith out of action until 2126. Drury also agreed to provide wrestlers for the Infinity Challenge. But Drury's biggest headache still existed; in the form of Hector. When Drury heard that Monolith was returning to the GWF in 2126 he disappeared. Only his old friend Patch seems to know where he went, and he isn't saying.
